A weekend with the Rowses

I have just come back from Edinburgh where I was lucky enough to help some lovely friends of mine celebrate the excitement that was their wedding day! Oh what a wedding it was!
I attended with some of my colleagues from my Corstorphine days, and one of the things that made my heart soar was how easy it was for all five of us to step back into the chat of days past.

I went into the weekend in a bit of a glum place, and while I won't apologise for my self-indulgent rambling on Thursday, I did need a wee bit of a reality check. I needed to see a fairy tale in real life.
I was lucky enough that this weekend I got both.

I slept in my own bed on Friday night and when I came back to my apartment, the excitement of both my bed and the day that lay ahead of me on Saturday made me realise that a lot of my ranting on Thursday was a result of me being lonely. I should have spotted it quicker before I let it drive me a bit mad. It is a road I travelled down about 8 months ago. I did my laundry,…

Life of Lu: Being thankful 12/09/2016

I really enjoyed doing my list of things that I am thankful for two weeks ago.
It is hard to believe that it has been only a fortnight, it seems like so much longer!
So while sitting here in my hotel room in Dundee, I have decided to write another list.

1. I am thankful for the safe arrival of my shiny new cousin Esmée. I received a photo of the wee beauty on Saturday and it is great to hear that mother and baby are doing well! I always find it so precious when this little bundles of life arrive even though I don't get to see them very often. Congratulations parents, siblings and grandparents!

2. I am thankful that I had my cousin and her boyfriend over to visit last week. It was great to spend time with them both, and get to know Ronan a bit better even if they were half dead from Electric picnic the weekend before! As the years pass it is great that relationships with my cousins are getting stronger and stronger. Don't wait so long to make it over the next time!

3. I am thank…

A night at the Avett Brother's

I am sure most of you know that I was in London last Wednesday night to see the Avett brothers play at Shepards Bush. I travelled down with my pal Mark, and another guy Jamie and when we arrived in London we met my cousin Caoimhe, Mark's parents and a man named Danny. While first impressions were fabulous, I did not think that I would have such a hilarious night, nor did I expect to come home with a sprained foot!

For myself and Caoimhe it was our first time seeing the Avett brother's live. The show was superb. The band play a variety of instruments, and much to my delight the stage was home to a double bass, a cello etc.... It turns out that both Caoimhe and I are very similar, in life as well as musical taste, and she announced to Mark's dad mid way through a collaboration of the double bass and piano that 'there is nothing better than a man with a large instrument. The bigger the better.' I have never seen someone blush such a shade of scarlet as she did when she…
