Day 10 - A picture of the person you do the most screwed up things with.

Oh Lord! This one is a doozy! Define screwed up first of all.... what I consider screwed up is probably quite different to yours! I mean I would consider screwed up to be stealing a car or killing animals you may consider screwed up to be playing kiss tag (guilty) or dancing on bars (guilty) One person I have always had ridiculous nights out with was my mate Ais.
I just stole this off fb. Isn't she gorgeous!
I don't know if I would use screwed up to describe them but we generally had a catch up a few days later and tried to piece our antics together. At one stage, we took salt packets and kept them in our wallets as a reminder to behave. Why they were salt packets I do not know. I assume they were close at hand at the time.
You know, I don't think I really do screwed up things. Crazy things, ridiculous things and at times mortifying things but screwed up? Nah, I'll give this one a miss, blog challenge.

Day 09 - A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most.

I've been think about this one since I decided to do this blog challenge.
I can't single out one person.
So many people in my life have helped me get over some pretty shit times.
Some people are no longer in my life.
It is a pity but we evolve and change with time
and relationships suffer as a result.
It doesn't mean those people were any less important when you needed them the most.

One person who will always be on this list is my best mate Edel
We've been friends since our early teens (I don't want to say for nearly 20 years...I can't deal with that just yet!) and she has always been the person I turn to when the going gets tough.
She doesn't take any crap off me. She is straight talking and practical and she is also one of the least judgemental people I know.
The summer after I lost my sister, Edel was the person who kept me standing tall. She was the person who held me up everytime something else knocked me back down. She kept my sane. I love her like …

Day 08 - A picture that makes you laugh.

I love animal photobombs. They always make me laugh. I couldn't pick just one so I picked three. Which is your favourite?

Day 07 - A picture of your most treasured item.

It is really difficult to decide what my most treasured item is. James was the one who pointed it out to me actually. They were the one thing I refused to leave behind when we moved here They are all I've ever asked my parents to keep for me They are something that I look at quite regularly just to remember. They are my photographs. I have quite a collection ranging from when I was a newborn baby
to four generations of my mum's family (How adorable/angelic am I?)
I've my great great grandmother
My grandparent's wedding

My Da and uncle's riding donkeys!

My photos also remind me of my childhood, time spent with my brother and sister and the fashions of the time...
I value my photographs more than anything else. It saddens me that I don't have more of my mum's family.  I love to look back and remember or imagine.  I cherish that I have the ability to do so... More photographs please!

Day 06 - A picture of a person you’d love to trade places with for a day.

Yesterday I came up with what I considered a BRILLIANT person to be for a day. I was so excited! Then I came home from work and I told James. I explained all the reasons why this was the person whose shoes I would like to borrow for a mile. Then James burst the bubble. 'I get it Lu, but isn't he manic depressive? What if you got him on a bad day?' I never thought of that. Was I willing to take the bad as well as the good. Not really, no. This is supposed to be a fun exercise. So I went back to the drawing board. Perhaps this challenge wasn't going to be as simple as I thought.
So I put my thinking hat back on. I realised there is no such thing as the perfect life. Not that I thought anyone had a perfect life, we all have issues. So I reached into the inner child in me. The one thing I wanted to be when I was a little girl was a princess. A kickass princess. So here I go. If I could be ANYONE for a day,  I would be Princess Adora. Or She-ra for the 80's kids out th…

Day 05 - A picture of… your favorite memory.

My favourite memory is not one defined moment. It is something that I did almost every summer of my childhood. I went to my Granny's house on holiday.

Posing outside the milking parlor
My grandmother lives in Kinvara in Co. Galway. It is a beautiful wee fishing village on the Clare/Galway border. My fondest memories come from being at her house.

My youngest aunt is only 6 years older than me so it was like having big sisters much of the time rather than having aunts. The aunt title only came into play when they had they arduous task of babysitting me. Then it was used quite liberally by whichever aunt was in charge.

When I was six I remember going to Kinvara on Christmas morning. My auntie Aileen had just received the Home and Away board game. To an average non-Irish person this may sound mediocre, perhaps even crap but in Ireland Home and Away is an institution. Especially back then.
I was in awe of this game. It had little cardboard cut outs of the characters heads that you move…

Day 04 - A picture of your night.

Today, my friend Sarah and I planned to go for a picnic in Princes St. Gardens. We were forced to cancel due to the horrendous weather. It was rather disappointing. Sarah however came up with the wonderful idea that we should meet up at hers and order in pizza. She is a clever lady that Sarah.

Not only did we order in half of Dominos pizza's side range we also made piggies of ourselves with copious amounts of tea and a very full plate of pastries. Yum!
Our conversation covered many topics and somehow ended up talking about the supernatural. Sarah decided to introduce me to a creepy figure that has captured her imagination and make me rather nervous in wooded areas as a result.
This figure is called Slender Man, Click it for more detail on this figure.

We then spent a few hours watching Marble Hornets, a youtube story of Slender Man

Needless to say I may not sleep as soundly tonight as I have on other nights but I did have a fabulous night freaking myself out. I blame it on my ov…

Day 03 - A picture of the cast from your favorite show.

This one is a toughie. I don't watch TV. We have some box sets which we indulge ourselves with every now and then but we're not really TV people anymore.
When we do watch TV shows we tend to stick with a handful. Rather than pick just one I shall give you a glimpse into the secret TV world of Lu and James.
House I love it. I love him. I love them. House.
Blackadder Again, I love it. Hugh Laurie in quite a different role to the one above. I have the box sets, the spin offs, the scripts. It is just my kind of humour.
I can't decide between the next three so I put them all down...
Spaced
Black Books

IT Crowd
There always has to be a quiz show Pointless

Day 02 - A picture of you and the person you have been close with for awhile.

Well I guess the obvious person is James.

We met in Lithuania in 2007. I was a wanderer trying to cope with trauma of the three years just gone by. He was a wanderer deciding to take the path less travelled through life.
We have always reckoned that we were broken when we met and we built ourselves up again using each other's strengths. Perhaps that is why we are so similar in so many ways.
We moved to Ireland together after only 5 months. In hindsight that was INSANE!
However, it worked and our time in Ireland cemented what could easily have been a holiday fling.
Though I think we both always knew that it was more than that.
Folks, I simply adore him.
I do.
Nearly five years since we met and I still get butterflies when I see him.
I am always accutely aware of when he walks into a room (though that could be a result of him being 6ft 5!).
He means the world to me and every day I thank my lucky stars that our paths so randomly crossed half a decade ago.

Day 01 - A picture of yourself with fifteen facts.

1. This is a photo of me with my parents on my graduation day. I studied English and Law. I loved English but I wasn't so keen on law. If I could go back I would choose French instead of law. Alas, hindsight isn't much good for anything other than looking back.

2. I have been with James for 4 1/2 years. I love him dearly.

3. We met in Lithuania. My mate Greig introduced us and to this day informs me that he expects a VIP invite to our wedding. In fact, the most common question he asks me is do we have a date yet. Greig, there is a question I must be asked before I can give you one. Be patient. :)

4. I once ate chips from Jamie Bell's plate. He offered. I accepted. I didn't know it was him at the time. They were mega.

5. I regularly tell American's that my father is a leprechaun. It entertains me.

6. I used to travel 12 hours on a bus from Vilnius to Tallinn to get pancakes from a pancake shop called Kompressor. It was always worth it.

7. I am ginger and proud to b…

Being happy

Have you ever had a moment in your life where you feel completely out of control? A moment where little issues are suddenly seeming to be enormous? Moments where the idea of sitting and crying seems like the only course of action to clear your mind? I've had a few of those moments lately. Actually I've had a lot of those moments lately. My usual sunny personality has had a dark cloud hanging over it. Even worse, I've become a moaning myrtle. Ugh. This weekend, after a particularily horrid week of the above, I spent some time with my boy. We chatted and he told me that he is quite worried about me. That my usual ability to let things slide off my back has been replaced by a downtrodden, sad Lu. I felt pretty bad to be bringing my issues home I must admit. So after much wine, pizza and deep conversation I feel I can now draw a line in the sand. Start again.
So I'm putting on my happy face. And I'm going to tell you about some of the things that make me smile. Becaus…

If you knew me...

If you knew me... (idea stolen from www.tifsong.blogspot.com)
- you would know that I love the colour purple. I do. So much so that I have managed to find myself a job where I wear it daily. Whoop! The boy tells me I am like a magpie is with silver when it comes to purple. I see it and swoop and then follow with a little whoop. Weirdly, I've never read the book 'The Colour Purple'. I probably should.
-You would know that I LOVE being ginger. Really I do. I LOVE it!
- you would know that I am also a musical junkie. I can't get enough. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is probably my all time favourite but I could not pick a second. Much to James' annoyance I also own quite a few on DVD. Girlie time = musical time!

- you would know that it is very difficult to hurt me. While I have quite a bubbly personality I tend not to let people get too close to me. The boy and I have spoken about it a few times. I can be very distant when I'm upset. I rant and rave about stuff …
