Life of Lu 20/09/2011

- Well, this week has been only what I can call an emotional rollercoaster. It has been a week of laughter, tears, joy and sorrow. But let me start with the joy and laughter. This weekend we went to visit James' sister in Bedford. I adore visiting this beautiful little family,  I consider his sister as close as I would my own sister. Truthfully. They gave us a fabulous weekend. Check out our photos ... -Then we found out yesterday that someone very, very dear to our hearts suffered a heartbreaking loss. This poem is for you. I found it in a book. You know who you are. Remember how much we love you. And that we are only a phone call away. Do not judge a song by its duration Nor by the number of its notes Judge it by the richness of its contents Sometimes those unfinished are among the most poignant? Do not judge a song by its duration Nor by the number of its notes Judge it by the way it touches and lifts the soul Sometimes those unfinished are among the most beautiful?

Life of Lu 13/09/11

Hey ho!! It is that time of the week again, time to listen to the ranting and raving of Lu! This week has been a pretty mega week. James and I have been trying to help each other out health wise this week. He has me crying through feckloads of kilometres on the exercise bike and lifting weights while I have him eating fruit and vegetables. Yesterday he sampled goat's cheese, smoked salmon and mango. I was very impressed by his efforts! The Scotland plan is coming along nicely. I can't figure out where our money is disappearing to so rapidly at the moment. There always seems to be another flippin' bill but we'll be fine come Scotland time! I only have 2 and a half weeks left of work. Probably 4 weeks left in Ireland. I am so excited. I have a wonderful image of me, sitting in the Grassmarket sipping a chai latte, staring at hairy men in kilts. Honestly, the image gets me through all the cantankerous customers at work at the moment! I'm not getting much time

My love affair with Queen.

Many of you have probably noticed (In fact I may judge you if you haven't already!) that I love the band Queen Almost obsessively. It's true. I do. And I think the time has come to share the reason for this unrequited love, The first song I remember loving was Barcelona . I was too young to know the band or singer but I remember the song being played all the time on the radio and I loved it! Then a few years later I remember watching the Mighty Ducks and they sang We are the Champions .  I didn't realise that  the singer was the same until I was singing Bohemian Rhapsody one day (I had just seen Wayne's World) and my uncle asked me if I liked Queen. I didn't know. As he went through their songs with me I realised that  I had adored this band for years and not known! That was how it started. All those years ago. The more I feel in love with their music the more I found that I could find a song to reflect nearly every situation in my life or one that marked ou

My mystery haircut revealed!

As I told you before I had a moment last week where I took a scissors to my ponytail. I promised to show you what happened. Here goes. BEFORE (taken 2 weeks ago) AFTER (taken yesterday!) Well.... What do you think???

Beautiful lyrics

Last night I was introduced to the vocal delights of a man named Frank Turner. I really liked his music. You should check him out. One song in particularly got me. It has some of the most wonderful lyrics I have ever heard. And I totally got them. Would you like to know what those lyrics were? Of course you would! Eulogy, Frank Turner Not everyone grows up to be  an astronaut, not everone was born to be a king. Not everyone  can be Freddy Mercury, but everyone can raise a glass and sing: Well I haven't always been  a perfect perseon, and I  haven't done what mum and dad had dreamed, but on the day I die I'll say "At least I fucking tried" and that's the only eulogy I need. If you would like to hear the song you can. Here It is only 40 seconds but it is well worth a listen! and I have to add...  He does a pretty mean Freddie Mercury too! Listen ! Enjoy!
